The Sopranos Comes to an End (Spoiler Warning)

As most people know, one of the most influential shows on TV has come to an end after 6 seasons. In my opinion, it certainly did not end in a bang. The ending simply consisted of Tony Soprano sitting with his family in a restaurant. The screen suddenly went black, and the credits rolled in silence.

Tony Soprano

Perhaps I have to watch it again to try to make some more sense of it. The series however, ended exactly how it began. It started with Tony Soprano just living his life and trying to figure things out, and it ends exactly the same, with him just living his life.

It has been one of my favourite shows, so I am sad to see it end. I guess there is still hope for HBO’s Entourage, which has also made its way into my TV watching schedule.

Spoilers in this comment, too…

I just managed to catch episodes 20 and 21 (the finale) this evening. Episode 20 had a few good burns in it, but 21 was a bit odd and only seemed to resolve things (Phil Leotardo, specifically) because he had it coming to him for a while now.

I think a better way for the finale to have ended would have been for Tony to remain by the pool, and have a random solitary duck fly overhead, quacking its beak off. It’s all about the ducks.

Seriously, though, what the hell is that crap with AJ? He’s been pulling an emo kid ever since he was engaged to Blanca, and it’s only NOW that Tony and Carmella suggest a “sort-of interesting” job and he gets some underage tail? Come the hell on; you can’t resolve anything like that. At least the producers didn’t go for the cliche’d “slit my wrists but don’t actually show it” crap - AJ’s attempt was pretty weak, but probably accurate for someone in that partially depressed, partially attention-whoring state of mind.

Oh, Tony. It’s only NOW that you’re starting to own people and it has to end? Damn shame.
